Good day and welcome back to the Family Cyber Clinic… The area covered this week is a scam warning over fake calls from National Crime Agency. The clinic would like to alert members of this community and those dropping by of these scam calls by companies claiming to be from the National Crime Agency.

The automated calls state that National Insurance number has been suspended… or as in my case the actual automated call stated that the suspension was due to my National Insurance number being used for some ‘Dodgy’ activity

I was instructed to “press one on my phone to be connected to the caller”, which will allegedly fix the problem and even be issued a new National Insurance number.

With my training I obviously did not but I can see the untrained falling for this scam hence the video

What also surprised me the most was that these rogues now use Mobile phone numbers to make it look legitimate…

The obvious reason for not doing as the call insists you do (pressing 1 on your handset) is because the fraudsters want to gain control of your personal details.

The advice from us here in the clinic is that we should not respond to this call and that this is a scam.

All scams can be reported to Action Fraud via the website or by calling 0300 123 2040.

Additionally, if you’ve received a suspicious phone call, you can help the HMRC’s investigations by providing your phone number, the caller’s phone number, the date/time of the call and a brief description to

Let’s keep ourselves and all those connected to us SAFE !!
